Adam House
Through This Door
February 2010
Dear Friends of Adam House: Happy New Year! We pray that each of you had a joyous Christmas Season.
This Christmas was one of the best in our collective Adam House memory:
We started things off on December 12, with a "Internationsl Christmas"dinner and program at Dovercourt Baptist Church.
Some of our residents also thoroughly enjoyed a Christmas dinner and program at Wilmar Heights Baptist on December 20.
On December 22nd, we hosted our own Christmas party at Adam House. Ossington Pentecostal prepared the meal and the program. Both were outstanding. Approximately 90 persons attended - residents, former residents, staff, volunteers and guests. Most notable, we had about a dozen former residents from Afghanistan, all who heard the reason for the season, maybe for the first time! All former residents went home with a gift bag from Morningstar Christian Fellowship. Thank you to all who were involved!
Liebenzell interns, Chris and Bettina, celebrated advent with the residents every evening and encouraged many to try skating for the first time at a nearby skating rink.
And on Christmas Day, Eveline from Grace Community Chruch, prepared a delicious dinner and the Liebenzell interns helped our residents celebrate with an afternoon of games, songs and a lot of laughter!
Christmas can be a difficult time for those who are far away from their families and from Christmas traditions that they hold dear. Thanks to dedicated volunteers. One of our residents, Thomas said, "I could see from the happy faces that all were happy and we had all forgotten that we were celebrating Christmas away from home. We all felt at home!"
Special Event

We are pleased and excited to announce our first ever Friend Raising Banquet, on Thesday, April 27th, 2010 at Willowdate Pentecostal Church, where we will also remember the 10th anniversary of the Adam Family's journey home. Please join us for an evening of music, testimonies, delicious food and fellowship. Learn more about Adam House and how you can help our ministry.Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken.
We will also be celebrating the launch of our website www.adamhouse.org in March 2010. Let us know you're coming! Please contact David, Lucy or Dalia at Adam House if you would like to attend.
Tuesday Night Bible Studies
God is at work!
Bible Study attendance has reached record numbers, with 30-35 participants consistently. What has changed? Our worship has been enlivened by having more musicians in our midst; the sharing from the Word of God has been inspiring and relevant to new refugees; and those attending are being blessed and encouraged!"During Bible Study, I try to sit beside Rafi and Hannah, (a couple from Azerbaijan and Russia). When they arrived at Adam House they described their religion as "non-practicing".We aren't even sure non-practicing what. Even though they understand almost no English, they join in the singing and listen attentively. What's most touching is that they are so excited to read the word of God. We have given them Russian Bibles and I help them find the right passage. Ït is so touching to see their eagerness and joy as they articipate. ...Lucy Chaimiti, Program Manager
Special Request & Opportunity for YOU to be Involved
For three years, we have been holding a community dinner following our Bible Study on Tuesday evening. It is a huge success; however, it takes an enormous commitment of time and energy for our staff. We are looking for small groups of volunteers from local churches, who would be interested in preparing our community dinner once per month. Please contact David, Lucy or Dalia, if you are interested.
Praise God for HIS Faithfulness
- Praise God, in March 2010, our website www.adamhouse.org will be launched.Pray that the website would yield an increase of prayer and financial support for the munistry.
- Following our incorporation and registration as a charity, we are now a member of the Canadian Counsil of Christian Charities.
- Praise God, following our appeal in November, we received many donations towards a new furnace. However, we do need additional donations to meet our target. Please consider giving - our existing furnace is over 30 years old.
Prayer Requests:
- Immigration policies are constantly changing . Recent changes have resulted in a decrease in the number of refugee claimants entering Canada, and therefore, a decrease in the number of refugee claimants Adam House is serving. Unfortunately, this also means a decrease in our rental income. Please pray for our donor base to increase in response, as we are still serving people in great need.
- Pray for Rafi and Hannah as they continue to explore the word. Pray that we would be able to connect them to a Russian church that would be able to love and disciple them.
- Pray for our Afghani friends who attended the Christmas party. Pray that they would believe what they have heard of our Savour and that they would believe what they have heard of our Savour and that they would desire a pe4rsonal relationship with Him.
Thank You for Your Prayers and Support,
