Pray for Gaza

…whatever your political opinions may be, there is no denying the fact that there is currently a humanitarian crisis in Gaza that should concern us all. It is heartbreaking to hear the stories of innocent bystanders being caught up in the conflict and suffering from lack of food, water, and medicine. And even though a majority of Palestinians do not support Hamas, they cannot help being affected by the reports they hear on the news. As a result, there is a growing sense of concern and anger here in the West Bank, which occasionally rises to the level of violent protests. However, I am happy to report that the situation in the West Bank, while tense, is still relatively calm.
How then do we respond to a situation such as this? In my view we are obliged as Christians to withhold judgment and show compassion for these people. And our compassion should take the form of humanitarian relief and prayer. However, when we pray let's not limit ourselves to praying for a solution to their immediate problems, but let us also pray that God would open their eyes to the truth about Himself so that they can discover what true peace is.
